Introducing NVW – Asheville’s Interim Clinical Director Liz Deardorff

Elizabeth Deardorff, LCSW - Interim Clinical Director New Vision Wilderness-AshevilleNew Vision Wilderness – Asheville is pleased to announce Liz Deardorff as our Interim Clinical Director.  Liz is NVW’s most senior clinical team member and is excited to take on the Interim Clinical Director position for our Asheville program. Along with ensuring that Asheville’s clinical model is aligned with the Calo Programs clinical model, Liz will be supervising therapists and taking on a caseload for the summer and into the fall. Liz is currently accepting young adults and is excited to for this opportunity. Liz, along with her team, will still be offering family services to our families and alumni.

Liz joined the NVW team in 2010 and has treated in both our Wisconsin and Bend locations. As a lead therapist, Liz worked with adolescent females, males and young adult populations in the wilderness. In 2016, she enthusiastically began working extensively with our families – bridging front country therapy with wilderness experiential process. Liz profoundly believes in the importance of repair, healing and growing within our relationships to fully develop a secure self. She steps into this work with much vigor and excitement to utilize the power of nature, experience, and relational repair. Liz achieved her Master of Social Work, emphasis on Child and Family and Mental Health, from Loyola University Chicago in Illinois. She is trained in Brainspotting, EMDR-Level One and Two and Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga which are powerful tools to utilize with trauma, attachment, and anxiety. Liz uses these tools to create a powerful experience within treatment for the entire family to heal. Outside of work you can find Liz trying to find area waterfalls, dancing, reading, and rooting for her favorite team, the Wisconsin Badgers.
