New Vision Wilderness Wilderness Therapy proudly serves as the first established New Vision Wilderness program.  Located in the beautiful Northwoods of Wisconsin, we are a team of highly trained professionals dedicated to transforming the experiences of struggling students and families.

Established in 2007, New Vision provides trauma-informed, attachment focused, wilderness immersion therapy to pre-teens, adolescents, and their families.  Using some of the most innovative, yet trusted, therapeutic techniques our team works directly with the nervous system to “reset” the student’s physical and emotional experience.

Simultaneously, our team supports students in exploring the way their struggles manifest as symptoms and behaviors.  By providing emotional support, communication options, social skill-building, and regulation techniques our team facilitate holistic, cohesive healing for students.  Parents and caregivers are vital participants in this process as well.

New Vision Wilderness Therapy operates year-round and accepts students through a rolling admissions process.  The Chaquamegon National Forest provides a beautiful and diverse landscape for our field area.  With specialized programming for each season, students may find themselves hiking, canoeing, climbing, ice fishing, and dogsledding among other peak Adventure Experiences.  Our program is positioned for “back country” immersion in a field area that is simultaneously located close to town.  This allows staff and supplies to move quickly to our student groups.  In the event a student requires medical evaluation or care they are only a short distance from hospital and medical services.  High accessibility to our cabins, close proximity to our leadership team, and strategic operations have all contributed to New Vision Wilderness Therapy setting an industry leading record in safety.

Our Treatment Practices

HeartMath

HeartMath is a unique system of rigorous scientific research, validated techniques, leading-edge products and programs and advanced technologies for people interested in personal development and improved emotional, mental and physical health. HeartMath is internationally recognized for practical solutions that can transform the stress of change and uncertainty and build people’s heart coherence and energy reserves.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting is a powerful, focused treatment method that works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of other challenging symptoms. Brainspotting is a simultaneous form of diagnosis and treatment, enhanced with Bilateral sound, which is deep, direct, and powerful yet focused and containing.

Canine Therapy

At New Vision Wilderness, our canine therapy program uses Golden Retrievers very strategically to teach our clients how to work on healthy relationships with the ultimate goal being transferable attachment.  Transferable attachment is practicing relationship tools with the canines and then transferring those skills learned to healthy human relationships.  The unconditional love and loyalty that canines provide make them the perfect animal to work with when practicing safe relationships.

Family Services

All development and healing happen in the context of relationships.  At New Vision, Family Services are a core component of treatment.  In addition to weekly calls with a primary therapist, caregivers are provided therapeutic support by our Family Services Director.  Ongoing opportunities for parent seminars, online education, and family therapy intensives are available.
