Family Services

The mission of New Vision Wilderness’ Family Services Department is to create opportunities for families to grow, heal, and understand.

We create opportunities for a family to develop new skills while utilizing the power of wilderness. This includes family team building, stepping outside of comfort zones, breaking old habits, and building new strategies to engage in a healthy family system alongside one another. By doing these activities, families are able to GROW with one another, to be challenged, and work to step outside of their unhealthy patterns. This creates a space for parents to process their emotions addressing their parallel processes while their child is in treatment.

HEALING begins when caregivers are able to understand their emotions, dysfunctional patterns, and own trauma within relationships. Caregivers can also connect to other caregivers who are in similar situations to feel additional support. Within the journey, New Vision Wilderness provides experiences to further UNDERSTAND the therapeutic issues their child is going through, the manifestation of behaviors at a deeper level and struggles they have experienced, and to understand the process of being in the wilderness and beyond.
